An Accurate Map of the County of Lancaster

by John Gibson. Revised, Corrected and Improved by Eman. Bowen.  from The Royal English Atlas c. 1778.  Later hand colouring.  19 1/2" x 16 5/8".  Enhanced by numerous paragraphs of  "..Historical Extracts relative to its Natural produce, Trade and Manufactures.."

The map corresponds to Hodson State c ( County Atlases of the British Isles Vol.iii p.23 by Donald Hodson ) and is dated 1777. There is a plate number 20 and the Carington Bowles imprint is misspelt 'Carrington'. Notwithstanding pale 'tide marks' to the lower corners, easily mounted out, a good example of an interesting and informative map.
